Job Summary
Solar Field Service Technician 1 responsible for inspecting and performing corrective maintenance on photovoltaic (PV) solar panel systems, including inverters and related components. Tasks include troubleshooting, testing, and repairing solar equipment; handling materials; and documenting work orders, service orders, and time logs. Responsibilities emphasize health, safety, and environmental compliance, operating and maintaining solar power plants per procedures, and mentoring team members. Daily duties may involve troubleshooting inverter/combiner boxes, performing LOTO, IV curve tracing, megger/insulation testing, IR scans, and ensuring proper operation of equipment. Requires travel (up to 100%), safe operation of a company vehicle, and adherence to safety policies and standards; basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Office locations include California and Texas with in-person work expectations.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years' experience on commercial and/or utility scale solar sites
- Experience with electrical and power electronics troubleshooting and repairs
- Knowledge of environmental and safety policies, NFPA 70E/OSHA 10 training
- Ability to use digital multi-meters, meggers, amp clamps
- Ability to test installed equipment and perform daily mechanical/electrical inspections
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work rotating shifts and 100% travel
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
- Safety-focused with familiarity with OSHA standards
