Job Summary
Solar Commissioning & Repair Technician responsible for commissioning and repairing distributed generation solar facilities. Execute commissioning plans for new DG solar installations, perform troubleshooting and repair on PV modules, inverters, trackers, and balance-of-system components, verify tracker systems (single-axis), perform AC/DC electrical testing, maintain accurate commissioning records, and ensure safety compliance per OSHA/NFPA 70E standards. Coordinate with EPC contractors and subcontractors, communicate daily site status, and support warranty claims. Requires 2+ years solar experience, knowledge of DC/AC electrical systems, and ability to travel up to 75% with a base location in Avon, NY. NABCEP PVIP/Associate certification is helpful; OSHA 10/30 and other certifications are beneficial.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; Associate's degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Solar Energy, or related field helpful
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in solar PV installation or commissioning
- Working knowledge of DC and AC electrical systems up to medium voltage
- Proficiency with electrical test equipment (multimeters, clamp meters, IV curve tracers, meggers)
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Must have the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel frequently
Desired Qualifications
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional (PVIP) or Associate certification is helpful
- Familiarity with Also Energy SCADA and remote monitoring systems
- Experience with single-axis tracker platforms (Valmont, Terrasmart, Array Technologies, etc.)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in solar PV installation or commissioning
- High school diploma or GED; Associate's degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Solar Energy, or related field helpful
