Job Summary
Advocate will provide legal advocacy to victims of domestic abuse and navigate civil/criminal court processes within the Milwaukee County Restraining Order Office and Family Peace Center. Responsibilities include assisting with temporary restraining orders and injunctions, accompanying DVHRT clients to court, identifying needs through intakes, developing safety plans, referring clients to community resources, and coordinating with law enforcement, prosecutors, and school systems. The role requires collaboration with agency staff, ability to work with diverse clients (including non-English speakers with interpretation support), and de-escalation skills. Preferred Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social work, or a related field and 1–2 years of advocacy or case-management experience.
