Job Summary
Sojourner Advocate-DVHRT and RO responsibilities include collaborating with Sojourner Family Peace Center staff to assist clients with safety planning, referrals to community resources, and legal assistance; providing legal advocacy to victims of domestic abuse, harassment, and those at risk; accompanying clients to civil and criminal court proceedings to help navigate processes; conducting intakes and developing personal action plans; coordinating with police, district attorney’s office, schools, and other partners to maximize effectiveness of restraining orders and injunctions; maintaining client files and data, and assisting with training volunteers and staff; outreach and education to the community; and upholding agency policies and core values. The role requires excellent communication, the ability to work with diverse populations, and knowledge of safety planning and legal resources.
Required Qualifications
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in criminal justice, social work, human services, or relevant field
- Preferred one-two years of professional experience in advocacy, case management, human resources or related field
- Working knowledge of de-escalation techniques and ability to learn screening tools such as Danger Assessment, LAP
