Job Summary
Sojourner Advocate – Domestic Violence High Risk Team will maintain an active caseload of specialty clients (high-risk cases such as homicides/near-fatal incidents), conduct outreach to victims for information, support, safety planning and resource access, and coordinate with internal/external partners to disseminate program information. The role provides crisis advocacy (including law-enforcement accompaniment), delivers community presentations/training on domestic violence, and supports clients through court and legal processes while building relationships with community resources and systems (police, courts, DOC, etc.). The position requires regular evening/weekend/overnight hours, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field with 2-4 years of experience, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with diverse clients; bilingual skills are a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social work, criminal justice, human services, or relevant field
- Two to four years related professional experience; or equivalent combination of education or experience
- Ability to perform essential duties in crises-oriented environment, handle multiple cases, and work evenings, weekends and overnight hours
- Ability to work with diverse clients and partner agencies; effective communication and relationship-building with community resources
- Knowledge of domestic abuse statutes and injunctions; experience with victims, police, courts, and related systems; willingness to travel within assigned districts
