Software Quality Assurance Lead Engineer

Job Summary
Establish and lead the software quality assurance function by defining processes, standards, and best practices for embedded firmware, mobile applications, and PC-based software. Develop comprehensive test strategies and execute manual and automated testing frameworks while overseeing test case design, defect tracking, and reporting. Lead requirements review to ensure testability, maintain traceability metrics, and support hardware-software integration and system-level validation. Mentor QA team members, drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis, and interface with subcontractors to ensure quality deliverables. Prepare quality reports for stakeholders and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance and testing with emphasis on embedded systems and/or application software
- Pre-employment drug/alcohol/background screening
Desired Qualifications
- Training in quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100)
- 2+ years of experience in QA leadership, test engineering, or technical supervision
- Experience establishing or scaling software QA processes and teams
- Experience with embedded firmware testing and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
- Experience with military, aerospace, or other regulated program testing
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD integration
- Security clearance desired or ability to obtain
- Experience with quality management systems and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, DO-178, MIL-STD-882)
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing
- Experience with performance testing, stress testing, and reliability testing
- Experience with audio/acoustic system testing
- Knowledge of encryption and secure communication testing
- Experience with over-the-air (OTA) update testing and validation
- Familiarity with hardware debugging tools and interfaces (e.g., JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)
- Knowledge of wireless protocols and testing (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi)
- Experience with mobile application testing (iOS/Android)
- Experience with PC application testing (Windows/Mac/Linux)
- Experience interfacing with customers, subcontractors, and external partners
