Job Summary
Lead software project management for Warehouse Controls and Execution Systems projects, executing the full software development lifecycle from scope analysis and BRD creation to Go-Live support. Manage schedules, budgets, and resources for material handling automation initiatives while acting as the primary contact for external clients to coordinate requirements, deliverables, and approvals. Oversee testing lifecycles including UAT and factory acceptance, maintain project portfolios in Project Web App, and communicate status reports to stakeholders. Travel up to 30% for definition, pilot, and commissioning phases.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Requires 4-7 years of related experience
- Experience in the material handling industry, warehouse distribution, and warehouse automation
- Knowledge of materials handling, WMS, WCS, WES, order fulfillment, distribution center operations, and supply chain logistics emphasis software offerings
- Knowledge of complex warehousing functions includes but not limited to Receiving, Order Fulfillment, Shipping, Picking, Replenishment, Buffering, Order Management, and Inventory
- Ability to understand and explain the database, server, and network requirements that support the warehouse functions
- Have led in the project management of several small-size, medium-size, and large-size automation projects
- Knowledge of automation projects involving machines, robotics, controls, and software
- Understands concepts of automated storage and retrieval system, conveyor systems, and communication with the PLC Layer
- Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle
- Define, Design, Development, QA, Implementation, UAT, Training, Turnover to Support
- Agile or Waterfall Methodology
- Ability to plan high level milestone schedule related to software
- Ability to plan a detailed milestone schedule related to software
- Ability to report progress, risk, delays, and any mitigation plans during the execution of the project
- Knowledge of Team Foundation Server and SharePoint version control system
- Utilized a task-driven system like Jira or Work Items
- Knowledge of business practices and project management
- Project Scheduling based on durations and resource availability
- Negotiate with the customer and prioritize expected software deliverables
- Ability to manage autonomously customer relationship and expectations during the development and the implementation lifecycle
- Ability to handle multiple project assignments and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment while paying attention to detail and deadlines
- Ability to report on project status and financials for individual projects as well as the department software portfolio
- Ability to work weekends and evenings as required, particularly during project go-live events
- Ability to learn new technologies
- Strong organization and collaborative skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and listening skills
- Ability to prepare and present to Client and/or company stakeholders vital information with minimal support and guidance
- Technically savvy for tools required to perform at a high level with consistent results
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team as well independently
- Power to lead internal team efforts to ensure that deadlines are met consistently
- May assume a team lead role for a workgroup (project)
- Must be self-motivated and driven
- Ability to multi-task
- Must be adept to handling pressure and working under stress
- Proven success in a customer-facing role
- Ability to assess deliverables to ensure they correctly meet outlined design, content, and functionality requirements
- Solid interpersonal skills with a strong sense of responsibility and personal initiative
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Microsoft Word, Visio (plus), and Excel, with Microsoft Project skills and general knowledge of all other Microsoft Office applications
- Travel as required up to 30%
- Travel is usually required during Definition, Conference Room Pilot, User Acceptance Testing, and Go Live
