Software Engineering Manager

Job Summary
Lead software engineering teams across one or more product lines, owning end-to-end SDLC execution, delivery predictability, and operational excellence. Position requires time in the office or field, with responsibilities including managing multiple agile crews, establishing strong engineering practices, and providing technical thought leadership. Must demonstrate hands-on expertise in Java and Spring Boot, with experience designing and delivering enterprise services, microservices architectures, RESTful APIs, and data management across MySQL/Oracle/MongoDB. Proactively drive CI/CD health, automated testing, and production support, while coaching engineers, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring quality and reliability across products. Strong communication skills and cross-functional partnership with product, QA, operations, and security/risk teams are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 5+ years of industry-relevant software development experience
- At least 3 years of prior management experience
- Hands-on Java expertise with Spring Boot and service development
- Experience with SDLC disciplines, CI/CD pipelines, and production support
- Experience with OpenShift, Docker/Kubernetes, and DevOps practices
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to lead multiple agile teams and deliver end-to-end software
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, MongoDB)
- Ability to translate technical concepts for senior stakeholders
- Ability to establish and improve engineering practices (code reviews, automated testing)
- Experience with architecture decisions and trade-off analyses
- Experience with RESTful API design and security patterns
- Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools (Dynatrace)
- Experience with version control (Git)
- Experience with release management and deployment pipelines
- Cross-functional collaboration with product, QA, security/risk teams
