Job Summary
Manage and mentor a team of software engineers across embedded C++/CUDA, GUI, and firmware, setting priorities, individual development plans, and conducting performance reviews. Own the technical roadmap for the product software stack, leading design and architecture reviews to ensure quality and consistency. Drive software delivery from prototype through production release, managing dependencies with FPGA, electronics, and clinical teams while ensuring compliance with IEC 62304, IEC 60601-1, and ISO 14971 standards. Partner with DevOps and Test managers on CI/CD and release processes, and support system integration and hardware bring-up. This leadership role requires hands-on technical involvement and managing external partners, situated within a London-based product development team building non-invasive neuromonitoring technology.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering
- at least 3 years in an engineering management or team lead role
- Proven experience leading and growing high-performing software teams
- ability to set direction and develop engineers
- Hands-on background in embedded and real-time software development
- C/C++ on embedded Linux
- Strong software architecture and system design experience for resource-constrained or safety-critical hardware
- Experience developing software for medical devices or another regulated industry
- Experience defining software architectures and owning technical roadmaps from concept through production
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
- experience working alongside hardware, electronics, and clinical teams
- all team members work at least 4 days per week in the office
- This role is based in our London (Kings Cross) office
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with real-time signal processing
- high-speed data acquisition
- physiological data pipelines
- Familiarity with CUDA or GPU-accelerated processing pipelines
- Experience with Flutter/Dart or other embedded GUI frameworks
- Working knowledge of IEC 62304, IEC 60601-1, and ISO 14971
- Experience with FPGA-software interfaces or hardware abstraction layers
- Familiarity with Yocto-based embedded Linux and BSP development
