Job Summary
Intern will collaborate with a small, fast-moving team to build and scale full-stack applications that interface with proprietary models. The role emphasizes developing seamless, interactive frontend user interfaces with React/TypeScript and architecting backend services. Design and deploy scalable backend systems with RESTful APIs and databases, implement observability practices (logging, tracing, metrics), and work closely with AI/ML researchers to integrate GenBio AI models into web platforms. The position requires a proactive self-starter mindset, driving projects from conception to deployment to generate real-world impact.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a full-time Master's or Ph.D program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
- Possess exceptional software engineering fundamentals
- Fluent in React and TypeScript for building responsive UIs
- Experience designing backend architectures, particularly with FastAPI (or similar) to build scalable Python-based backend services
- Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
- Enjoy building reliable full-stack software and debugging across the stack
- Nice to Have: Kubernetes, observability tooling (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus), open-source contributions or impactful internships
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in React and TypeScript for frontend development
- Experience with FastAPI (or similar frameworks) to build scalable Python-based backend services
- Hands-on experience designing backend architectures and working with relational or NoSQL databases
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and modular system design
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment
- Hands-on experience with containerization/orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes) is nice to have
- Familiarity with observability tooling (logging, metrics, tracing) and OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus is nice to have
- Active open-source contributions, robust projects, or impactful internships are nice to have
