Job Summary
Design, develop, and maintain real-time and batch data processing components within the MDI and Alpha Data Platform microservices using Java and Spring Boot. Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement automated unit, integration, and regression tests to ensure reliability. Collaborate with product owners, QA, and support teams in an Agile Scrum environment to deliver new capabilities and improve engineering practices. Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and long-term platform improvements while mentoring junior engineers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience will also be considered
- Strong professional software engineering experience in Java development
- Proven experience building and maintaining enterprise backend systems or microservices
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, concurrency, and distributed systems
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and service-based application development
- Strong SQL and database experience, including troubleshooting data and query-related issues
- Experience building automated tests at multiple layers, including unit and integration testing
- Experience debugging complex issues across code, configuration, data, and environment boundaries
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated success working in Agile/Scrum teams
- Ability to collaborate effectively across development, QA, support, and platform teams
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with financial systems, capital markets, market data, or reference data platforms
- Experience with Azure messaging or other cloud-based event platforms
- Experience with contract-based integration, or message-driven architecture
- Experience with Kubernetes-based deployment models
- Experience with production support, observability, and incident investigation
- Experience modernizing legacy platforms while also building new microservices
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical work within a sprint-based team
