Software Engineer

Job Summary

Support Group 1, 2, and 3 Unmanned Systems through software development, integration, testing, and mission support. Deliver production software in an agile environment using C, C++, and Python while applying sensor fusion techniques for enhanced situational awareness. Develop user interfaces with Qt/QML and manage mission planning via QGroundControl, leveraging MAVLink protocols and TCP/IP networking. Troubleshoot data communication issues, parse complex codebases, and build target software from source files. Maintain proficiency in autonomous navigation algorithms and BetaFlight/ArduPilot frameworks. Requires TS/SCI clearance and 3+ years of relevant experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Must currently have a Secret Clearance and be eligible for a TS/SCI
  • B.S. in Computer Engineering/ Science, Aerospace Engineering, or applicable engineering or science field
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on professional experience with Degree
  • Minimum of 7 years hands-on professional experience without Degree
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience within the last 5 years supporting Group 1 and/or Group 2 UxS through software development, integration, testing, and/or mission support
  • Proficient in C, C++ and object-oriented software development methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver working production software in an agile development environment
  • Extensive knowledge of autonomous navigation and path planning techniques: waypoint navigation, geofencing, dynamic routing, obstacle avoidance, and collision detection algorithms
  • Extensive knowledge in BetaFlight, ArduPilot, and Px4- 5 years
  • Experience with sensor fusion techniques (e.g., combining data from IMUs, GPS, cameras, LiDAR) to enhance situational awareness and navigation accuracy
  • Experience working with ground control software such as QGroundControl for mission planning, execution, and monitoring
  • Experience with the Qt/QML framework for developing user friendly graphical interfaces
  • Familiarity with MAVLink protocol for communication between UAVs and ground stations
  • Proficiency in Python scripting for automation, data analysis, and prototyping tasks
  • Strong understanding of data networking concepts, ino uding TCP/IP protocols
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot network communication issues
  • Skilled in parsing and reverse engineering complex codebases (e.g., C++, Python) to identify subtle errors in data I communications within hardware and software systems
  • Experience with CAD
  • Demonstrated ability to fully build target SW from source files

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Group 3 UxS within the last 5 years
