Job Summary
Senior individual-contributor Software Engineer on a Feature Team working with a modular Rails-based codebase; own large product features end-to-end, break down ambiguous problems, collaborate with product managers to clarify requirements and push back on scope, review PRs for maintainability, write and maintain automated tests, incrementally improve legacy code, and use AI coding tools daily (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) while staying fully accountable for what you ship. The role emphasizes product-minded engineering, collaboration across the team, and developing stronger AI-assisted development practices. Optional in-office day in New York area; standard tech stack includes Ruby on Rails 8.1, React, Stimulus, Turbo, PostgreSQL, Redis, Heroku; location is Boston with hybrid remote-work options.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong full-stack fundamentals with meaningful back-end experience
- Active, demonstrated use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot)
- Track record of owning features end-to-end
- Strong automated testing discipline
- Clear, proactive communication with product managers and cross-functional stakeholders
- US-based, authorized to work without sponsorship, able to work Eastern timezone core hours
