Job Summary
Software Engineer on SpaceX's Special Projects team designs and delivers software and firmware for avionics systems, enabling flight hardware for Falcon and Dragon engineering. The role involves lifecycle responsibilities from development to testing and operational support, hands-on integration and troubleshooting of flight hardware/software, collaboration with peers and customers, and supporting launch operations. Candidates should bring strong C/C++ skills, familiarity with microcontrollers (e.g., NXP), Linux scripting, and solid software engineering fundamentals, with flexibility to work extended hours and weekend deadlines. An active Top Secret/SCI (or DOE Level Q) clearance is required or must be obtainable; ITAR compliance is noted. Compensation ranges from $125k to $175k annually depending on level and experience, plus comprehensive benefits and potential incentives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, engineering, math, physics, or scientific discipline; OR 2+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree
- 1+ years of experience in software development with C++ or C languages
- Active Top Secret, Top Secret SCI, or DOE Level Q clearance
Additional Requirements
- U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), Refugee or Asylee eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State (ITAR compliance)
