Job Summary
Design and maintain backend services, APIs, and microservices in Java and Linux environments. Contribute to the architecture of large-scale, distributed systems focusing on performance, reliability, and security. Develop and deploy services in cloud environments using AWS, while building and optimizing containerized services across the platform. Work with relational databases to support high-volume, data-driven applications and troubleshoot production issues to enhance system monitoring and performance. Collaborate with developers and data engineers to deliver secure, scalable capabilities for data science and AI/ML workloads. This role requires 10+ years of experience, a BS in Computer Science, and US citizenship with an active TS/SCI clearance. Located in Herndon, VA, this onsite position supports mission-critical platforms for Civilian, Defense, and Intelligence Community customers.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent
- 10+ years of experience building and operating software applications or platform level systems
- Strong proficiency in Java
- Strong proficiency in Ansible
- Strong proficiency in Python

- Strong proficiency in MySQL
- Strong proficiency in MariaDB
- Strong proficiency in Linux
- Strong proficiency in AWS
- Hands-on experience with microservices

- Hands-on experience with distributed system design
- Proficiency with SQL databases
- Experience with data intensive application patterns
- Experience deploying and operating services in cloud environments
- Experience with AWS or similar
- Strong experience with containers
- Proficiency with Git

- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals
- Solid understanding of testing
- Solid understanding of secure coding practices
- US citizenship
- Active TS/SCI security clearance
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with distributed data and streaming tools (Hadoop, Spark, Yarn, Hive, Trino)
- Experience with data access control models such as RBAC and ABAC
- Experience with the Customer's Enterprise access control and entitlement management systems
- Background supporting largescale, multitenant platforms
- Background supporting high availability systems
- Experience hardening systems to meet the highest accreditation or security compliance levels
- Familiarity with Ansible
