Software Engineer SME - Forensic Toolkit Lead Developer

Job Summary
Lead the design, development, and analysis of customer operational and application systems, specifically forensic tool portions of the code base. Provide senior-level design guidance while leading a team of developers to implement new features and resolve software issues. Integrate bug fixes, security enhancements, and new capabilities as approved by the government, delivering forensic tool builds using agile processes. Develop mechanisms to seamlessly share results with other applications and establish APIs to enforce backwards compatibility. Assess software performance and reliability, integrate new data types and analytic tools for seized media, and deploy/maintain forensic tools across development and operational environments. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for digital evidence handling while supporting the government's capability to ingest and analyze massive volumes of digital evidence.
Required Qualifications
- Technical experience in software development with a specialization in digital forensics and forensic tool development
- Expert knowledge of forensic analysis techniques, file systems, data recovery, and evidence handling best practices
- Familiarity with forensic standards and protocols, and an ability to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for digital evidence handling
- U.S. citizenship with active TS and the ability to obtain a SCI
- Experienced strategic planner, with a demonstrated ability to set a vision for a forensic toolkit's development and ensure alignment with organizational mission and goals
- Demonstrated experience in leading the design and architecture of complex forensic software solutions
- Experience addressing the challenges associated with processing and analyzing petabytes of digital evidence from various sources
- Proficiency in .Net programming languages as well as thin client front-end technologies
- Extensive experience delivering forensic software deployed in the commercial cloud and capable of distributed processing
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing projects that span software development, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure
- Strong communication skills; must be able to articulate complex technical issues to a non-technical audience, including law enforcement officers, analysts, and government officials
- 100% onsite for the first 3 months
- Possible opportunity for hybrid telecommute/onsite split after 3 months
- Schedule is day shift Monday – Friday
- May be requested to work evenings and weekends to meet program and contract needs
- Less than 10% travel

Desired Qualifications
- Relevant certifications related to technical architecture, software development, or forensics preferred
- 8+ Years experience in Software Engineering
- Bachelor's degree in IT or related field
