Software Engineer

Job Summary
Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot to support large-scale genomic and biomedical data processing. Analyse existing applications to propose improvements in architecture, scalability, and performance while collaborating with Product Managers and Data Teams on technical design discussions. Build and support data-intensive services that transform complex biological datasets into actionable insights, occasionally contributing to front-end development with Angular and TypeScript. Review code, share knowledge, and promote engineering best practices across the international engineering team.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 5+ years of experience in software development with a strong backend focus
- Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot/Spring MVC
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs
- Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL and relational database design
- Strong understanding of software design patterns, data structures, and performance optimisation techniques
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Proactive, ownership-driven approach to problem solving
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with healthcare, biotechnology, life sciences, or scientific data platforms
- Knowledge of Angular and TypeScript
- Experience working within distributed international teams
- Exposure to cloud-native architectures and large-scale data processing systems
- Exposure to GraphQL
