Job Summary
As a Software Engineer on OpenAI's Privacy Engineering team, you will design and operate technical systems that support legal compliance workflows, including secure data processing and document review. Responsibilities include building data storage pipelines, automating secure data transfers, setting up secure compute environments, and maintaining accountability of data holds. Ideal candidates will have experience with large-scale data systems on platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP, as well as tools like Terraform or Pulumi, and possess strong documentation and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience building or operating large-scale data-lake or backup systems (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Experience with Terraform or Pulumi, CI/CD, and creating repeatable pipelines for legal requests.
- Comfort with working on discovery workflows or willingness to quickly build expertise.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to teams such as Legal and Engineering.
- Experience shipping secure solutions balancing speed, cost, and evidentiary defensibility.
