Job Summary
Software Engineer on Neuralink's Next Gen team, responsible for writing, testing, and deploying software that interacts with neural interfaces and data acquisition systems to decode and modulate brain activity. Own end-to-end engineering of software systems for the control of neural stimulation, visual prosthesis, and medical imaging data pipelines. Collaborate with neuroengineers and animal training specialists, mentor peers through code/design reviews, present results, and contribute across research sessions. Proficiency in Python, Golang, C++, or Rust required; hands-on debugging with lab equipment; experience with hardware/software integration and real-time systems highly preferred. Comfortable working in a fast-paced research environment with cross-disciplinary teams; familiarity with macOS/iOS development (Objective-C/Swift) and hardware-interfacing software is a plus. Compensation includes base salary and RSUs for full-time staff.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Fluent in modern high-performance backend languages (Python, Golang, C++, RUST)
- HW/SW debugging skills with lab equipment
- A strong understanding of engineering first principles
- You are mission-driven and goal-oriented in your approach to solving problems
- You are resourceful, flexible, and adaptable; no task is too big or too small
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Desired Qualifications
- Hands-on experience writing software that interacts with hardware such as robotics, control theory, human-robot interaction, or real-time systems
- Experience developing software for macOS or iOS, in Objective-C/Swift
- Experience with hardware-software integration in a research setting
