Job Summary
Software Engineer (Mid to Sr Levels) at Nomic builds and scales the nELISA software stack, including an internally developed full-stack LIMS, data pipelines and a customer-facing web portal. The role emphasizes designing and building core components, leveraging AI coding tools to create agentic backends and skills, and developing internal tools to increase lab and R&D velocity. Responsibilities include deploying and scaling data pipelines for cytometry data, enabling data visualization and analysis at scale in the browser, and collaborating with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Lab Operations, Commercial). Candidates should have full-stack software development experience, strong Python skills, experience with AI-assisted development, and familiarity with data pipelines, lab workflows, and biology-themed software. Education requirements include a bachelor's or master’s degree in engineering or computer science (or related field), or equivalent industry experience.
Required Qualifications
- Full-stack software engineering experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, computer science, or related field
- Experience with Python and modern software development
- Experience with AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) and AI-assisted development
- Experience developing data analysis pipelines and algorithms for scientific data (biochemical assays, flow cytometry, etc)
- Ability to design and implement scalable software architectures and CI/CD processes
- Strong communication skills, ability to write clear specifications for humans and AI agents
- Experience interfacing with lab equipment or LIMS systems (e.g., Benchling) or data pipelines/data stores for scientific data
- Fluency in English; ability to collaborate with USA-based customers/vendors
- Nice to have: experience building agentic systems, LLM tools, RAG, eval harnesses
- Willingness to work in a cross-functional environment with R&D, Engineering, Operations and Commercial teams
