Job Summary
Design, develop, and implement complex software capabilities for computer-based systems using modern Java frameworks and Kubernetes deployments with tools like Helm and Flux. Seamlessly transition between hands-on execution and team guidance while mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives. Troubleshoot issues under pressure with multiple deadlines and maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging trends in software development. Work in a fast-paced, small business environment with a collaborative team, designing enterprise APIs and microservices architectures.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship
- At least 9 years' experience in Software Engineering, Modern Java Frameworks and Libraries (e.g. Spring, Guava) Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience
- Current U.S. Government Security Clearance
- Current Secret or TS level clearance
- Building and maintaining Kubernetes deployments using tools like helm and flux
- Strong Java software development experience
- Designing enterprise APIs
- RESTful web services
- Microservices architecture
- Agile software lifecycle
- Proven ability to learn quickly and works well both independently as well as in a team setting
- Linux operating system
- Configuration management tools (e.g. Git, Nexus, Maven)
- Tech lead, mentor, or manager for engineering teams
- Hybrid environment, spending an average of 1-2 days per week at our Columbia, MD office and/or 1-2 days per week at our customer site
- Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes as needed
- Strong working knowledge and experience developing Java based software capabilities
- Inquisitive nature, responsiveness, and excellent testing skills
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines
Desired Qualifications
- Cloud-based technologies (AWS, Azure)
- Designing and writing custom kubernetes tooling like operators and custom CRDs
- Programming languages such as golang and python
- Writing automation in CI/CD tooling such as gitlabs CI pipelines
- Distributed databases, NoSQL databases, full text-search engines (e.g. Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Solr)
- Scripting experience
- Prior experience or familiarity with our Big Data Platform
- Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github Enterprise, etc.)
