Job Summary
Develop new features and enhancements for Wiley Science Solutions' online products, including customer-facing web applications, SaaS platforms, and scientific information services. Design, build, and maintain modern, scalable, and secure software solutions using industry-standard frameworks, cloud technologies, and engineering best practices. Deliver high-quality code that supports business objectives and creates meaningful value for customers while continuously improving product capabilities, performance, and scalability. Collaborate closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, Architects, QA Engineers, and DevOps Engineers to deliver reliable, secure, and user-centric solutions within an Agile environment. Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical discussions to drive delivery predictability and engineering excellence. Contribute to modernization initiatives by optimizing performance and reducing technical debt to support researchers and enterprise customers worldwide.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience developing, testing, and maintaining modern software applications
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns
- Experience building web applications, backend services, APIs, or distributed systems
- Knowledge of software development best practices including code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD processes
- Experience working within Agile software development environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate within cross-functional and distributed teams
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with modern web technologies including React, Next.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Experience with backend development technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and Microservices
- Experience with cloud platforms and services, including AWS
- Experience with containers and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with cloud-native application development and scalable SaaS platforms
- Interest in AI-enabled technologies and modern software engineering innovations
