Job Summary
Software Engineer II designs, develops, tests, and supports features for ODW Logistics’ Transportation Management System (TMS) across backend, frontend, and database layers, following architectural patterns; mentors junior engineers and collaborates with operations, carrier management, and support teams; develops REST APIs with auto-generated docs; contributes to CI/CD pipelines and production support; participates in defining technical direction, architecture, and implementation approaches for features, including asynchronous messaging, caching, and real-time communication patterns; ensures documentation and training for new systems and major enhancements; position is based at Columbus, OH or Hamilton, OH offices; salary and benefits include health/dental insurance, 401K with match, and an equal opportunity employer statement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science or related program, or equivalent professional experience
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Experience providing direction and mentorship to other engineers
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend language with ability to work across full stack
- Experience building modern web applications with a component-based frontend framework
- SQL experience for relational databases
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs
- Proficiency with Git and PR-based workflows
- Comfort with containerized development and deployment environments
