Job Summary
Software Engineer II at ODW Logistics contributes to the Transportation Management System by designing, developing, testing, and supporting features across backend services and a modern web frontend. Responsibilities include implementing REST APIs with API-first approach, working across backend/ frontend/ database layers, participating in architecture decisions (asynchronous messaging, caching, real-time communication), contributing to CI/CD pipelines, providing production support, and mentoring junior engineers. The role requires collaboration with transportation operations, carrier management, and customer support, and is based in Columbus, OH with a 40-hour work week and a flexible schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Experience providing direction and mentorship to other engineers
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend language and full-stack web development
- Experience building modern web applications with a component-based frontend framework
- Solid experience writing and optimizing SQL for relational databases
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs
- Proficiency with Git and PR-based workflows
- Experience with containerized development and deployment (Docker)
- Nice to Have: Go, Angular, TypeScript, MS SQL Server, Docker/Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, Redis, Datadog/Prometheus/Grafana, CI/CD (GitHub Actions), OpenAPI/Swagger
