Job Summary
Software Engineer II – Test Automation focused on designing, building, and maintaining automated test frameworks and pipelines for API and integration testing. You will own test automation for assigned features within a feature team, design automation strategies early in development, and integrate tests into CI/CD. Key skills include Java or JavaScript, REST Assured, Playwright, and Cucumber for BDD, with emphasis on validating RESTful APIs, building scalable test frameworks, and collaborating with software engineers to ensure production-ready releases.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in test automation or software engineering in test
- Strong Java and/or JavaScript skills applied in automation frameworks or tooling
- Hands-on experience with REST Assured for API testing
- Hands-on experience with Playwright for backend service testing
- Experience with Cucumber for BDD-style test design
- Solid understanding of Jenkins and CI/CD pipeline integration
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, HTTP methods, and CRUD-based architectures
- Experience testing distributed systems and microservices-style backends
- Ability to work closely and collaboratively with software engineers in a feature team setting
- A pragmatic approach — knowing when to automate and when to explore manually
- Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD toolchains — understanding continuous integration, delivery, and deployment practices
- Exposure to cloud platforms and application design patterns for cloud-based environments
- Understanding of secure coding standards and the ability to apply basic security best practices in day-to-day development
