Software Engineer II - Identity & Access Management

Job Summary
Implement features and bug fixes across DigitalOcean's authentication and authorization services in Go, focusing on OIDC, OAuth2, and SAML integrations for enterprise single sign-on. Evolve the Policy Engine using Rego/OPA to support advanced resource-level permissions and dynamic scoping. Take ownership of service reliability by fine-tuning Kubernetes deployments and migrating legacy data pipelines to modern eventing architectures. Proactively identify and remediate complex security vulnerabilities to ensure auth flows remain resilient against credential stuffing and session hijacking. Partner with senior engineers to develop expertise in distributed systems and security engineering while collaborating cross-functionally with teams across IAM, Billing, and Inference.
Required Qualifications
- 2–4 years of software engineering experience
- strong foundation in building and shipping production services
- Proficiency in Go
- strong background in another typed systems language with demonstrated ability to ramp quickly
- Working knowledge of at least one identity protocol (OIDC, OAuth2)
- Understanding of how distributed systems work — replication, latency trade-offs, failure modes
- Exposure to containerized environments (Kubernetes)
- Experience with SQL databases (MySQL)
Desired Qualifications
- familiarity with SAML or access control models (RBAC, ABAC)
- Exposure to Open Policy Agent (OPA) or Rego
- Familiarity with gRPC microservices architecture
- Prior experience working on security-sensitive or compliance-adjacent systems
- Experience with Terraform
