Job Summary
Software Engineer II specializing in backend/platform AI capabilities. Responsible for building and operating AI-powered features in a multi-tenant, production environment, with end-to-end ownership from design to deployment. Key tasks include implementing agentic workflows and LLM integrations from design specs (tool calling, retrieval patterns, prompt management, streaming responses), delivering production-grade services atop a Java/Spring Boot stack, and collaborating with senior engineers and platform teams to integrate PI-specific capabilities into shared AI infrastructure. Maintain code quality, testing, observability, security, and governance aligned with Mastercard standards for Responsible AI and data security. CAMPAIGN: focus on delivering reliable, scalable, and secure AI-enabled services, with emphasis on performance, latency optimization, and production readiness. Required skills emphasize strong Java backend development, AI/ML production experience, REST/microservices, CI/CD, and cloud familiarity.
Required Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Java for backend and service development
- Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities in production (LLM APIs, model serving, retrieval pipelines, or similar)
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices architecture, and distributed systems fundamentals
- Experience with CI/CD practices, including branching, build automation, quality gates, and deployment pipelines
- Working knowledge of production operations: logging, metrics, monitoring, and incident response
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)
