Job Summary
Software Engineer II in Application Owner Support & Site Reliability Engineering at JPMorgan Chase in London. Blended role focused equally on application ownership and site reliability engineering. You will leverage software engineering practices to solve business problems, ensure system reliability, and maintain application health while ensuring compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards. Responsibilities include executing small to medium projects, incident analysis and resolution, onboarding/upgrades/decommissioning of applications, planning/auditing events, maintaining runbooks and documentation, monitoring application health and performance, reporting on health metrics, implementing SLIs/SLAs, reducing manual toil through system improvements, supporting change management and deployment activities, participating in on-call rotation, risk assessments and attestations, and ensuring timely compliance documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 2+ years of applied experience
- Ability to code in at least one programming language (Java, Python, .Net, etc.)
- Familiarity with site reliability concepts, principles, and practices
- Experience with at least one database and SQL queries
- Knowledge of observability, monitoring, and alerting tools (e.g., Grafana, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Datadog, Splunk)
- Experience with containers or common server OS (Linux, Windows)
- Understanding of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, Terraform)
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Experience in incident management, root cause analysis, and process improvement
