Job Summary
Build scalable front-end and back-end services using Kotlin, Java, TypeScript, and React while solving challenging distributed systems problems on AWS and Kubernetes. Take part in code reviews and architectural discussions to shape the product, actively using AI tools to improve personal and team efficiency across coding, testing, and troubleshooting. Forge strong partnerships with product management and balance building new features with refactoring existing code. This role is for a Software Engineer I joining the Engineering team at Smartsheet. Candidates need 1+ years of full-stack experience and must be legally eligible to work in the U.S.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years software development experience building highly scalable, highly available applications
- 1+ years of programming experience with full stack technologies such Java, Kotlin, Python or TypeScript
- 1+ years of experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.)
- Experience developing, documenting, and supporting REST APIs
- 6+ months professional experience leveraging AI to improve personal productivity in service of building complex SaaS feature sets
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
- Adaptable as priorities or problems change
- Ready to take ownership of your work and grow into bigger challenges
- A clear written and verbal communicator, able to explain your thinking in code reviews, documentation, and team discussions
- Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis
