Job Summary
Conduct day-to-day backend development for SimpliSafe's Device Cloud Services, collaborating with senior engineers to design, build, and test well-tested software components. Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, and debugging while maintaining automated tests to ensure code reliability. Debug issues, fix bugs, and make incremental improvements to existing systems, actively participating in code reviews to sharpen engineering skills. After an onboarding period, join the on-call rotation as a first responder for team-owned software.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, completed or expected soon (or equivalent practical experience)
- A solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles
- Exposure to at least one modern programming language (e.g., C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C++, Go, Python) through coursework, internships, or personal projects
- Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Curiosity, humility, and a genuine desire to continuously learn and grow
- Comfort working collaboratively in a team environment and communicating clearly about your work
- Hybrid work model that enables our teams to split their time between office and home
- Expect our teams to come together in our state-of-the-art office on two core days, typically Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday
Desired Qualifications
- Internship, co-op, research, or personal/open-source project experience building software
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) or building/deploying cloud-based services
- Coursework or projects involving distributed systems, APIs, or IoT/embedded devices
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices
