Job Summary
Backend-focused Software Engineer I for Affirm’s Servicing Platforms team. The role emphasizes building distributed, high-availability backend services and pipelines to support bankruptcy workflows and hardship support, with a greenfield environment and a strong emphasis on correctness, auditability, and operational excellence. You’ll work with Python and Kotlin in collaboration with product, compliance, and other platform teams, contribute to scalable backend systems, and participate in on-call rotations while growing technical and collaborative capabilities across a global engineering team.
Required Qualifications
- Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale
- Proficiency in Python or Kotlin or Java
- Experience with distributed systems
- Familiarity with AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes
- Strong code quality, testing, and extensibility
- Ability to navigate large code bases and participate in code reviews
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to take ownership and seek feedback
