Job Summary
Software Engineer, Geospatial Data responsible for building geospatial data pipelines, ingesting new shapefiles and boundary files, normalizing and making them queryable in the data warehouse; reconciling census shapes against political boundaries and maintaining crosswalks; keeping boundary data current through redistricting; contributing to GraphQL API and data export products; collaborating with product, research, and data science teams; building scalable, secure data pipelines in cloud environments; strong in Python with hands-on geospatial data experience (PostGIS, GeoPandas, GDAL/OGR, ArcGIS); experience with cloud platforms (GCP/AWS) and data warehouses (BigQuery); focus on data quality, teamwork, and maintainable code; 3-5 years of software engineering experience; passion for democracy and civic tech; remote-first with a footprint including Austin, TX and remote work within the U.S.
