Software Engineer, Generalist

Job Summary
Ship features across the full stack from robot firmware and Rust services up through the web UI, touching multiple layers. Harden production systems by tracking down subtle bugs like memory leaks, network backpressure issues, or race conditions that only show up in real deployments. Own infrastructure end-to-end, including bare-metal servers, NixOS configs, and deploy tooling, to ensure fast and reliable changes to robots on-site or services. Build observability across the entire fleet so the team immediately knows where and why issues occur. Create tools that multiply team effectiveness, such as debugging utilities, data visualization platforms, or interfaces allowing non-technical staff to build apps. Improve data infrastructure from an in-house typed document database to ClickHouse. Work with electrical and mechanical disciplines to support new robot features and debug issues. Operate onsite five days a week in Amsterdam's city centre facility.
Required Qualifications
- Industry experience building and deploying production systems in multiple languages
- Strong sense of ownership and motivation
- Ability to drive problems and projects start-to-finish without someone project managing you
- Ability to thrive in a chaotic environment
- Familiarity with Linux systems and conventions
- Comfortable SSH'ing into other machines to figure out why something isn't working
- Knowledge of common communication protocols, e.g. UDP, TCP and WebSockets
- Strong CS or mathematics foundation
- Understanding basic linear algebra and 3D transformations
Desired Qualifications
- Rust experience
- Background as a technical founder, CTO, or founding engineer
- Demonstrated background of shipping impressive work at any type of company
- Understanding of basic linear algebra and 3D transformations is a strong plus
