Job Summary
Software Engineer needed to design and build next-generation IoT fleet management software for medical carts and connected devices. You will work across the full stack—from Linux-based device clients to cloud services—to provision, monitor, and manage thousands of devices at scale. The role involves building Linux-based client applications, webview-based device UIs, Spring Boot REST APIs and React frontends, admin interfaces for provisioning and analytics, and integration between embedded devices and cloud platforms. You will contribute to system architecture, APIs, and operational processes, collaborate on code reviews, and help evolve a unified fleet-management platform. The team operates in a small, high-ownership environment and values end-to-end feature ownership, cross-stack proficiency, and adherence to best practices.
Required Qualifications
- 7–15 years of software engineering experience
- Must reside within a 50-mile radius of Petaluma, CA
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Strong experience building IoT or hardware-adjacent applications on Linux systems
- Proficiency with Java (Spring Boot, REST APIs, Maven)
- Python/Django
- React (hooks, state management, component architecture)
- Solid Linux systems experience (CLI, system-level debugging)
- Experience with PostgreSQL (schema design, query optimization, migrations) and familiarity with MySQL
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (ECS, S3, Lambda, Cognito)
- Experience with Docker and containerized deployments
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar)
- Strong understanding of REST API design and documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger)
- Experience working across multiple layers of the stack
- Preferred Qualifications include AWS IoT, Node.js/Express, Java 17+/Spring Boot 3.x, IoT device provisioning, telemetry, or healthcare experience
- Background working with inherited or contractor-built codebases
- Exposure to iOS/iPad application development
- Experience migrating or consolidating legacy systems
- Experience in healthcare, medical devices, or regulated environments
