Job Summary
Maintain and advance the Furhat platform by making decisions on architecture, technology adoption, and roadmap design while prioritizing the backlog. Drive design meetings and agile processes to ensure high-quality results, ensuring accountability for performance, maintainability, and customer impact across the Furhat operating system, SDK, and cloud services. Support sales teams and customers with an advanced service mindset while decomposing complex distributed systems problems into manageable tasks. Work within a cross-functional team using Java, React, and cloud infrastructure (GCP, Azure, AWS) to build and maintain both installed-on-device and cloud-based software.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional, real world experience as a software developer
- Experience in shipping and maintaining both installed-on-device and cloud-based software
- Experience of Java development
- Experience of DevOps
- Experience with GCP, Azure, and/or AWS
- Familiarity with both relational and document-based database systems
- Familiarity with front-end programming (preferably React)
- Extensive experience debugging complex distributed systems
- Experience working within and developing for Linux systems (Ubuntu preferred)
- Strong communication skills necessary to drive effective communication in a global, hybrid workplace environment
- Strong understanding of best practices across a wide variety of technologies, including both functional programming and OOP methodologies
- Strong ability to decompose large complex problems into manageable, loosely coupled tasks
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining customer-facing APIs
Desired Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or better in computer science or related discipline
- Familiarity with chatbots or other conversational agents
- Understanding of user interface design principles
- Familiarity with C++ and Kotlin
- Familiarity with Docker
- Experience with shell scripting (BASH preferred) and systemd
