Job Summary
Designing complex software systems, optimizing for scalability and performance, and developing reusable APIs and libraries. Translate business requirements into solutions while balancing security, resilience, and cost. Implement database models, write business logic, and conduct thorough code reviews to ensure high quality. Perform debugging, troubleshoot system alerts, and assist with capacity planning and load testing. Introduce new patterns and technologies to the organization, coach junior engineers, and drive innovation through automation and secure coding practices.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational
- 6+ years proven experience in both front- and back-end software development, project delivery and implementation (in relevant development technologies/language)
- Experience with modern front-end and back-end frameworks and technologies
- Knowledge of IT systems development processes (SDLC)
- Knowledge of Application development
- Knowledge of Advanced programming concepts
- Knowledge of Advanced algorithms and data structures Design Patterns
- Knowledge of Version Control
- Knowledge of Testing practices
- Knowledge of Database systems and query optimization (e.g., SQL, NoSQL)
- Knowledge of RESTful API design and integration
- Knowledge of Cloud computing platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Knowledge of Advanced Microservice and event driven architectures
- Knowledge of Deployment using kubernetes and containerization
- Knowledge of Responsive design principles and mobile-first development
- Knowledge of Browser compatibility issues and performance optimisation
- Knowledge of Front-end build tools and package managers
Desired Qualifications
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology (ideal)
