Job Summary
Software Engineer, Feature Team role focused on end-to-end delivery across UI, JavaScript frontend and backend for an investment-portfolio management platform. You’ll work on the whole application lifecycle from requirements through implementation and deployment, collaborating with product management and users to design solutions that clarify complex user workflows, and to deliver scalable, user-friendly experiences for financial advisors. Expect to dive into UI, JavaScript, and backend work within a Ruby on Rails stack, apply solid computing fundamentals, communicate tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders, and bootstrap new skills as needed while producing working code. The role emphasizes ownership of code quality, understanding of workflows, and contributions across the stack in a hybrid Boston-area setting (in-office 2 days/week for the first 6 months; travel for non-Boston-area collaborators as needed).
Required Qualifications
- 2-6+ years of experience building production web applications
- Experience building interactive web applications using Javascript
- Strong understanding of computing fundamentals
- Proficiency in Ruby on Rails or similar MVC frameworks with demonstrated ability to learn our stack
- Demonstrated ability to understand user workflows and user experience
- Competence working in a Linux environment: familiarity with common command-line utilities and Unix process management; comfortable with bash scripting
