Job Summary

Drive major projects in the dual execution stack to ensure DuckDB processes queries seamlessly locally and in the cloud. Build a cloud platform that dynamically assigns resources for efficient workloads across all instance sizes. Lead cross-functional work with frontend, platform, and infrastructure teams to maintain a coherent end-to-end user experience. Push the state of the art in embedded database performance, distributed execution, and DuckDB internals while debugging issues based on real usage patterns. Mentor teammates and share expertise through documentation to raise engineering standards across the team. Align with DuckDB Labs on APIs and shape the future direction of the open-source database.

Required Qualifications

Fluency in a backend language like C++, Rust, Java, or similar systems languages
Comfort working close to the metal
Foundation in query engines

Experience with cloud infrastructure
