Job Summary
Design and implement full-stack solutions spanning firmware, low-level drivers, and APIs for ML accelerator chips. Analyze and optimize firmware and driver performance for demanding AI workloads while collaborating closely with hardware engineers throughout ASIC design and verification processes. Develop efficient memory management solutions including NUMA and IOMMU implementations to push boundaries in performance, power, and latency. This role reports to the Tech Lead Manager of the Compute team within Waymo's autonomous driving initiative, where the team delivers the compute platform powering the Waymo Driver.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in software development
- Baremetal or RTOS firmware development experience
- Experience with embedded architectures, IO technologies (e.g. PCIe, DRAM, AXI, etc.), and hardware/software interactions
- Strong C, C++ skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with RISC-V architecture
- Experience with ML frameworks like TensorFlow or JAX
- Familiar with hardware-software co-design principles
- Experience with silicon emulator
