Job Summary
Build, maintain, and troubleshoot software and services powering trading operations technology solutions. Ensure systems are highly available, scalable, and secure by continuously monitoring platforms, automating routine tasks, and improving performance. Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve complex problems, design features, and write operational documentation while mentoring junior engineers. Leverage strong Java skills, Spring Boot, and microservices experience to develop secure, testable code in AWS or Azure environments. Support production systems through on-call rotations and handle ambiguity in a hybrid role with up to 10% travel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems or equivalent work experience
- 2–3 years of professional software development experience (excluding internships), ideally in backend or full-stack enterprise environments
- Good understanding of software engineering practices across the full development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, Git, CI/CD, testing, and production support
- Experience contributing to distributed microservices design and development, with an understanding of reliable production operations
- Familiarity with unit and integration testing using JUnit and Mockito
- Basic knowledge of PostgreSQL or other relational databases, including query writing, schema design, and JPA/Hibernate
- Exposure to AWS cloud services and containerised environments such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Understanding of security and privacy best practices, along with monitoring, logging, and alerting in production systems
- Capable in building and scaling infrastructure services using Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure
- Capable in the understanding of using core cloud application infrastructure services including identity platforms, networking, storage, databases, containers, and serverless
- Capable in troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
- 2+ years of experience in application development and support environments with more than one technology and multiple design techniques
- You'll have supported these production systems through on-call rotations
- Capable knowledge of databases, such as relational, graph, document, and key-value
- Capable ability in data modelling and database design
- Capability ability in SQL
Desired Qualifications
- Strong Java skills, with proven experience in Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and microservices development
- Ability to write secure, reliable, testable, and maintainable code using clean code principles and proven design patterns
- Capable in the ability to adapt to new technologies and processes, and be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Capable in problem-solving, with the ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes and develop creative and effective solutions
- Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate with your peers through to senior leaders
- You should be able to engage and influence others to collect requirements, describe what you're doing, work through problems, and find productive solutions
- Self-starter, able to handle ambiguity, navigate uncertainty, identify risks, and find the right people and tools to get the job done
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and containerised environments such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Possess a passion for mentoring and coaching engineers in both technical and soft skills
