Job Summary
Software Engineer role focused on designing, developing, and improving scalable software solutions with a strong emphasis on test automation. Candidates should have hands-on experience building automation frameworks in Java (preferred) or an equivalent OO language, UI automation using Playwright or Selenium, and integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines. The stack includes Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and modern JavaScript (ES6+), with API automation using REST Assured or Karate, and UI testing with Jest/React Testing Library. The role requires collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers, participation in code reviews, secure coding practices, and adherence to testing best practices (unit, integration, and automated testing). Leadership expectations include guiding and supporting professional development, allocating work, coordinating team resources, and demonstrating Barclays’ values in daily work. Based in Pune, with potential work in Gera Commerzone SEZ, India, and a focus on delivering high-quality, reliable software in an Agile environment.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with SDET/Automation
- Proven ability to design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Java or similar OO language
- Experience with UI automation frameworks (Playwright, Selenium)
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
- Proficiency in JavaScript unit/component testing (Jest, React Testing Library)
- Experience with version control (Git, Bitbucket/Stash)
- Backend tech experience: Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices
- API automation (REST Assured, Karate)
- Strong JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, responsive design
