Job Summary
Own the delivery of high-quality software projects by coordinating with teammates and stakeholders to hit mutually agreed-upon timelines. Contribute across all product development phases, including specification, implementation, code review, QA testing, deployment, and operations. Seek context to eliminate ambiguity and drive projects forward while actively participating in engineering recruiting. Raise your hand to unblock progress by reaching out to product, teammates, and managers as needed. Build intuitive, deep user experiences for the investment process using TypeScript/React, Python FastAPI, and AWS Lambda. Required Qualifications
- A 4-year technical degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or the experience that proves you didn't need one
- 6+ years of hands-on software development experience, with a strong emphasis on individual contribution
- Background or demonstrated interest in investment management, fintech, or financial data
- Proficiency in Python, REST APIs, and SQL, familiarity with Opto broader tech stack (Typescript/React, AWS)
- Strong grasp of tradeoffs in distributed systems, including data modeling, API design, and performance tuning at scale
- Deep understanding of testing and delivery practices (pytest, CI/CD), as well as opinions on what to test and why
- Experience applying AI/LLMs to data extraction, data interrogation, and document generation
- Thrives in ambiguity, executes independently, and communicates with clarity and composure in a fast-paced startup environment
