Job Summary
Backend-focused software engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and operating scalable services such as identity, friend graph, and core persistence layers. Candidate will evaluate product requirements with cross-team collaboration, test and debug code, and uphold practices for availability, scalability, operational excellence, and cost management. The role emphasizes using AI tools to accelerate development while ensuring architectural integrity, performance, and security; requires experience with distributed systems, and familiarity with Java, C++, or Python, NoSQL, Kubernetes, and cloud services. The company advocates a default in-office collaboration cadence (4+ days/week) and offers equity opportunities. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent practical experience
- 2+ years of post-Bachelor’s software development experience; or Master’s +1 year; or PhD
- Experience with distributed systems or backend services
- Proficiency in at least one of Java, C++, Python
- Experience with NoSQL solutions, Memcache/Redis, Kubernetes, or Google/AWS services
- Ability to design, implement, and operate scalable services; strong debugging and testing practices
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teams
- Experience with incident or hotfix investigation and resolution
- Comfort with production-ready code, security, and performance considerations
- Desire to leverage AI tools to streamline development and audit outputs
