Job Summary
Implement and deliver features and components within the Clumio data protection platform, working under the guidance of Senior and Principal Engineers. Take problems from implementation through to production by building features and workflows, writing tests, and helping operate and improve them once they ship. Make sound implementation decisions within an established design, learning to balance correctness, simplicity, and performance while growing ownership of specific components. This role focuses on writing reliable, maintainable, production-ready code as part of larger systems that are critical to customer-facing operations.
Required Qualifications
- Software engineering experience through professional roles internships, or academic and personal projects.
- Solid grounding in computer science fundamentals — data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis — with the ability to apply them to practical problems.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Go, Java, Python, C++, Rust).
- Ability to break a problem down into a correct, maintainable solution, and the instinct to ask clarifying questions when requirements are unclear.
- A willingness to learn how production systems are built, operated, and debugged, with support from the team.
- Working knowledge of English.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience contributing features to a larger backend or cloud-native platform.
- Familiarity with at least one cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and common cloud-native design patterns.
- Familiarity with data-intensive systems, object storage, or large-scale backend services.
- Exposure to backup, disaster recovery, or data protection systems.
