Job Summary
Design, develop, test, and maintain software for weather system applications, including enhancements, bug fixes, and new capabilities using C, C++, and Python. Create automation, analysis, and configuration scripts; participate in code reviews, integration testing, and configuration management throughout the full software lifecycle. Design, implement, and maintain LAN/WAN/wireless network infrastructure, including router/switch configuration and network segmentation. Troubleshoot software, network, and hardware issues; perform diagnostics, validation, verification, and capacity/scalability assessments. Support secure communications and system modernization by evaluating end-of-life hardware and recommending upgrades. Integrate hardware and software in lab and field environments, document trouble calls, and manage engineering changes from concept to deployment. Develop technical documentation and engineering artifacts while collaborating with government and technical teams. This full-time on-site role at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center requires US citizenship, a Bachelor's degree in engineering, and 3–6 years of experience.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizen
- Resided in the US for three (3) consecutive years
- RealID Driver's License/ID or current US Passport
- Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- Three (3) to six (6) years of related work experience
- Proficient in programming languages and scripts used in model and tool development (C, C++, Python)
- Familiarity with HW system design, schematics and interconnects
- Experience with use of source control such as Git
- Familiarity with VLANs, VPNs, NAT, ACLs, and network segmentation
- Knowledge of network monitoring and diagnostic tools
- Strong understanding of the OSI model, TCP/IP comms, subnetting, routing, and switching
- Ability to work independently, as well as a team
- Ability to multi-task across teams in a structured environment
- Ability to research and problem solve; willingness to learn/try new things
- Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written communication; including developing technical documentation
- Must reside or be willing to relocate, at their expense, within a commutable distance to Oklahoma City, OK
- 10% travel required
