Job Summary
Software Engineer - Application Consultant at Kyndryl. This hands-on role focuses on maintaining, extending, and operating a constituent-facing disaster recovery portal with a Python/FastAPI backend and a React/TypeScript frontend. You will design and implement production APIs, integrate with internal and external systems, ensure security and data privacy, participate in release and operations activities, and collaborate across product, security, infrastructure, Drupal/content, identity, and operations teams. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of React/TypeScript experience, 5+ years of Python backend development, strong API and integration design skills, experience with authentication and authorization (OAuth/OIDC/JWT), relational databases, testing, and delivering robust, maintainable software within an enterprise environment. Preference is given to those with AWS/OpenTofu familiarity, Drupal integrations, and exposure to public-sector or enterprise settings, including accessibility considerations and QA processes.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with production web applications
- 5+ years of hands-on Python backend development in production or production-like systems
- 5+ years working with React and TypeScript, or sufficient experience to maintain and extend a mature React SPA
- Experience building API-driven systems with authentication, data persistence, testing, and operational support
- Strong understanding of security, authentication, authorization, and data privacy practices
- Ability to mentor others, review code, and operate independently in an enterprise environment
- Experience with performance, reliability, and release engineering practices
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and deployment workflows
