Job Summary
Software Engineer, AI Products at Full Fact (remote-first in the UK) develops AI-powered features and production systems to power fact-checking at scale. Responsibilities include building backend systems to identify, prioritise, and verify claims with integrations to LLMs and AI pipelines; developing and maintaining data pipelines processing large volumes of text and structured data; deploying and scaling cloud infrastructure; collaborating with data scientists to move models from prototype to production; and monitoring services in production. Ideal candidates will have Python expertise, REST API experience (Flask or similar), exposure to ML workflows, data pipelines/ETL, SQL and ElasticSearch, and containerised deployments (Docker). The role supports political impartiality, operates within a nonprofit context, and offers a collaborative environment with opportunities to contribute to AI-enabled tooling for misinformation reduction. Salary range £35k-£50k, 35 hours/week, FTC up to 12 months, hybrid work with an office in London for in-person meetings; flexible arrangements and learning opportunities are highlighted.
Required Qualifications
- Strong, practical experience with Python, including writing clean, testable, production-grade code.
- Experience with REST APIs and backend frameworks (Flask or similar).
- Familiarity with machine learning workflows; comfort working with ML models, embeddings, or NLP tooling.
- Experience with data pipelines or ETL processes, and working with SQL databases and ElasticSearch.
- Experience with cloud-based deployment and containerisation (Docker or similar).
