Software Engineer - Adaptation (Senior)

Job Summary
Develop and validate site-specific TFDM configurations, including gate/stand layouts, surface routing, and flight data rules, while serving as the primary contact for adaptation activities at FAA terminal sites. Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scenario generation tools and the enterprise SWIM data pipeline using Java, Python, and asynchronous processing architectures. Collaborate with Air Traffic Control and engineering teams to translate operational requirements into facility-specific adaptations, ensuring compliance with national standards and program baselines. Coordinate pre-deployment assessments, system integration testing, and readiness reviews to support safe, efficient deployment of TFDM capabilities. Maintain documentation of adaptation decisions and provide technical guidance to local and national stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in aviation systems adaptation, air traffic operations, or system integration roles
- Ability to interpret operational needs into technical requirements and translate them into functional system configurations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interface with air traffic controllers, engineers, and program stakeholders
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
- All candidates must be a US Citizen
- Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate within a commutable distance to Egg Harbor Township, NJ
- Significant travel (> 50%)
- Full-time position with a standard flexible work schedule and occasional non-standard work hours
- Cubicle setting
- Must submit fingerprints and pass a 7-year background investigation
- Must pass a drug test
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with TFDM, TFMS, STARS, ASDE-X, or other FAA automation platforms
- Experience with configuration management tools, geospatial layouts, or data adaptation platforms
- Strong knowledge of terminal facility layouts, aircraft movement, and ATC procedures
- Familiarity with FAA's implementation lifecycle (e.g., waterfall, Agile), Acquisition Management System (AMS), and Joint Resources Council (JRC) processes
- Experience using FAA's adaptation development environments, such as URET or TDDS
- Knowledge of enterprise geospatial systems such as ARCGIS or AutoCAD for airport layouts
- Knowledge of: Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS Languages
- Knowledge of: React, Spring Boot, Electron, Maven, SQL Plus and SQL Developer, Oracle Frameworks & Tools
- Knowledge of: Git, GitLab, GitLab CI/CD, DockerDevOps & CI/CD
- Knowledge of: RHEL, VMware Infrastructure
- Knowledge of: JMS, PostgreSQL Messaging & Data
- Knowledge of: SharePoint Collaboration Platforms
- Knowledge of: Project Leadership (Agile), System Architecture, Configuration Management, Operational Support Methodologies
- Knowledge of: MS Office Suite Productivity Tools
