Job Summary
Implement features in the Nike Run Club or Nike Training Club Android app from spec through shipped release, writing clean, testable Kotlin and contributing to the workout session stack including sensors, background execution, and storage. Own well-scoped feature work and pieces of larger initiatives while participating in on-call rotation to triage crashes, ANRs, and consumer-reported issues. Instrument features for observability and experimentation, then learn from production behavior to iterate. Adopt AI-native development practices using internal tooling and code assistance, while staying current with Android best practices and platform updates.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional Android development experience shipping consumer-facing apps
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Proficiency in Kotlin, including Coroutines and Flow
- Working knowledge of the modern Android stack (Jetpack Compose, Hilt/Dagger, Room, WorkManager, Navigation)
- Understanding of Android architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI) and how features are structured in a multi-module codebase
- Familiarity with the Android systems activity apps rely on - location, sensors, foreground services, lifecycle, audio focus, push
- Comfort consuming REST/GraphQL APIs and handling offline, low-bandwidth, and error states gracefully
- Experience writing unit and UI tests (JUnit, Compose UI tests, Espresso)
- Familiarity with Gradle, CI/CD, and the Google Play release process
- Strong debugging habits and an interest in growing them - profiling, memory analysis, ANR/crash triage
- Collaborative mindset; clear communicator in code review, design discussion, and written docs
- Experience with Spec Driven Development leveraging LLM coding agents and autonomous build and review loops
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
