Job Summary
Enhance systems and processes to streamline coding work while writing code from scratch, debugging own and others' code, and reviewing Pull Requests. Collaborate with other Engineers and the Tech Lead to identify solutions for development tasks in a modern web platform, solving complex problems and analyzing tradeoffs for technology approaches. Contribute to meetings to align around Agile practices, including ticket reviews, retrospectives, and sprint planning. Serves as an ambassador to the company through direct client contact as needed. This mid-level developer supports application development and implementation within CivicEye's growing cloud software platform for law enforcement and courts. The team environment requires strong communication skills and proactive problem-solving in an Agile setting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or Engineering, or equivalent education or significant experience (e.g graduated from Bootcamp or self-taught with 3+ years of experience freelancing or via full-time employment)
- Minimum 3 years of development experience in a fast-paced, team environment
- Must be local to the Nashville area
- Strong programming expertise in React, Node.js, and TypeScript, or solid background in .NET or Java
- Experience designing, developing, and deploying cloud-native applications on AWS or GCP
- Proficiency with modern CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment strategies
- Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, and distributed systems
- Experience with database design, optimization, and programmatic manipulation (SQL and NoSQL)
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes preferred)
- Proven ability to write clean, maintainable, and scalable code while enforcing best practices through code reviews and mentorship
- Knowledge of system security, scalability, and performance optimization
- Excellent time management and organization skills including the ability to prioritize, support, and anticipate the needs of the company with initiative and enthusiasm
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product, and business stakeholders
- Effective in Agile environments
- Self-driven with strong problem-solving skills, able to work independently while contributing to team success
- Cheerful and energetic with a professional presence, ample discretion and confidentiality, a positive attitude, and a willingness to go above and beyond
